Eminent domain..in Texas

Today "they" start demolition of houses in Arlington. Of course the voters of Arlington approved the whole $325,000,000 city part of the deal...so....
"They" are using an eminent domain excuse to tear down houses, apartments, small businesses and trees. All for a private business. The Dallas Cowboys.
The mayor of Arlington has stated that he hoped to use eminent domain as a last resort....some of these people have lived here for 30-40 years..now they are being ousted by their government to make millionaires in to billionaires. ( I love it when people make gobs of money...but not on the backs of the little guy with governements doing the dirty work)

Here are the numbers as stated by the Dallas Morning News.

55: properties purchased by the city
24: properties that were condemned before a settlement was reached
$45.6 million: value of the 55 properties purchased
88: properties still facing condemnation proceedings
$20.8 million: value of those properties still facing condemnation
168: properties needed for the stadium and parking

So far, we, the tax payers seem to have spent $45.6 millon for property and haven't even broke ground. That is not counting the lawyers....

The cost of the stadium has gone from @$500 million to over $700 million.....we sure love our Cowboys!
